We also learned "Tourism saves every Colorado household $458.00 a year in taxes and supports 141,000 jobs in the stare and 50,000 in Metro Denver."
Based on the 2011 Longwoods research, "The Mile High City registered its best tourism year ever in 2011, setting new records for the number of overnight visitors and the amount of money they spent," according to the 2011 study. More findings:
* Denver welcomed a record 13.2 million overnight visitors in 2011, a 4 % increase over the
12.7 million who visited the city in 2012.
* Overnight visitors to Denver in 2011 spent a record $3.3 billion, 10% more than in 2010.
* October 2012 was the strongest hotel month in Denver's history...
* Denver International Airport set a record in 2012 with 53,156,278 passengers, up .06% from 2011.
It was the 5th straight year that DIA has handled 50 million passengers or more.
