Proud to Live in Denver!

In the recently released 2012 Annual Report from Visit Denver, The Convention & Visitor's Bureau, we have learned:
   * For the 20th straight year, ...Denver won all major convention industry service awards.
   * Denver ranked America's 6th Best City. MSN.com 9/2012
   * Denver ranked No. 7 as a travel destination for 2012.  Hotwire.com, 3/2012
   * Denver ranked as one of the top 10 places to visit in spring of 2012.  Fodor's, 2/2012
   * Denver is one of the Top 10 Cities for Cycling.  Sherman's Travel, 3/2012
   * Denver is the 2nd Best Beer City in the world (after Munich), USA Today, and 2nd Best Beer City  
      in America, GQ Mag.  Both 10/2012
   * Denver Ranked as one of the healthiest cities to visit in America.  Food & Wine Mag., 1/2012
   * Denver is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the U.S.  Orbitz, 12/2012
   * Denver is one of the Top 10 cities to celebrate the New Year 2013.  Travelocity, 12/2012

We also learned "Tourism saves every Colorado household $458.00 a year in taxes and supports 141,000 jobs in the stare and 50,000 in Metro Denver."

Based on the 2011 Longwoods research, "The Mile High City registered its best tourism year ever in 2011, setting new records for the number of overnight visitors and the amount of money they spent," according to the 2011 study.  More findings:

   * Denver welcomed a record 13.2 million overnight visitors in 2011, a 4 % increase over the
      12.7 million who visited the city in 2012.
   * Overnight visitors to Denver in 2011 spent a record $3.3 billion, 10% more than in 2010.
   * October 2012 was the strongest hotel  month in Denver's history...
   * Denver International Airport set a record in 2012 with 53,156,278 passengers, up .06% from 2011.
      It was the 5th straight year that DIA has handled 50 million passengers or more.
